Compositional, structural and functional cuticle analysis of Prunus laurocerasus L. sheds light on cuticular barrier plasticity

چکیده

Barrier properties of the hydrophobic plant cuticle depend on its physicochemical composition. The cuticular compounds vary considerably among species but also organs and tissues same throughout developmental stages. As yet, these intraspecific modifications at wax cutin level are only rarely examined. Attempting to further elucidate profiles, we analysed adaxial abaxial surfaces sclerophyllous leaf three stages drupe fruit Prunus laurocerasus, an evergreen model native temperate regions. According gas chromatographic analyses, waxes contained primarily pentacyclic triterpenoids dominated by ursolic acid, whereas biopolyester mainly consisted 9/10,?-dihydroxy hexadecanoic acid. Distinct organ- side-specific patterns were found for lipid loads, compositions carbon chain length distributions. Compositional variations led different structural functional barrier cuticle, which investigated microscopically, infrared spectroscopically gravimetrically. minimum water conductance was highlighted 1 × 10?5 m s?1 perennial, hypostomatous P. laurocerasus 8 few-month-living, stomatous suggesting organ-specific demands.

The cherry laurel (Prunus laurocerasus L.) tree selection

Cherry laurel (Prunus laurocerasus L.) has attracted attention because of many different usage such as fresh fruit production, processing material for medicinal and pharmacy industry. This study carried out some pomological, chemical and phenological properties of cherry laurel phenotypes to selection of the favorable phenotypes for cultivation. A total of 40 phenotypes were evaluated in the pr...

DNA SSR fingerprinting analysis among cherry laurel (Prunus laurocerasus L.) types

Cherry laurel (Laurocerasus officinalis Roemer Syn: Prunus laurocerasus L.) is a perennial wild fruit plant that is widely distributed in and around South-Eastern Black Sea, Marmara Sea, the Caspian Sea in the North and the East. However, breeding success of cherry laurel depends on early harvest, transient differences in taste, fruit color and flavor due to large number of biotic and abiotic s...

the effect of functional/notional approach on the proficiency level of efl learners and its evaluation through functional test

in fact, this study focused on the following questions: 1. is there any difference between the effect of functional/notional approach and the structural approaches to language teaching on the proficiency test of efl learners? 2. can a rather innovative language test referred to as "functional test" ge devised so so to measure the proficiency test of efl learners, and thus be as much reliable an...

In Vitro Pollen Viability and Pollen Germination in Cherry Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus L.)

Pollen quality is important for growers and breeders. This study was carried out to determine in vitro pollen viability and pollen germination in seven genotypes of cherry laurel (Prunus laurocerasus L.). Two pollen viability tests, TTC (2,3,5-triphenyl tetrazolium chloride) and IKI (iodine potassium iodide), were used. Pollen traits of genotypes were studied using an in vitro medium containing...

Structural biology sheds light on the puzzle of genomic ORFans.

Genomic ORFans are orphan open reading frames (ORFs) with no significant sequence similarity to other ORFs. ORFans comprise 20-30% of the ORFs of most completely sequenced genomes. Because nothing can be learnt about ORFans via sequence homology, the functions and evolutionary origins of ORFans remain a mystery. Furthermore, because relatively few ORFans have been experimentally characterized, ...
